Eight domestic investors expressed their interest in developing the fishing industry in eastern Indonesia worth IDR 156 billion. The plan is for them to develop businesses in the fields of shrimp farming, fish processing, and seaweed marketing. Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine Products and Fisheries (PDSPKP) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Artati Widiarti revealed that the area includes Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) with an interest in shrimp cultivation investment worth IDR 80 billion and tuna and crab processing worth IDR 10 billion. Then the construction of an ice factory worth IDR 500 million and the construction of a Fish Processing Unit (UPI) for fresh fish products and frozen fish worth IDR 45 billion for Mimika Regency, Papua.
As for East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), investors are interested in investing in UPI worth IDR 20 billion and also the construction of an ice factory worth IDR 500 million. "Of course this is good news and we will definitely follow up," said Artati. Director of Business and Investment of the Directorate General of PDSPKP, Catur Sarwanto, ensured that he would immediately coordinate with the local government. At the same time, he is ready to accompany investors who have applied for investment interests in order to realize their investments. "As per our direction and policy, we will coordinate this with the local government soon," Catur said. For information, KKP continues to increase investment enthusiasm in the Indonesian marine and fisheries sector throughout the first semester of 2022. Investment realization in the first semester of 2022 is estimated to reach IDR 4.04 trillion or an increase of 36.29% compared to the same period in 2021.
